Lots of modern wedding trends are like pop culture. For a brief moment it is ubiquitous and you can’t imagine anything more clever or cool. Then, as time goes on, well… how many people do you think are still showing that photo of the T-Rex chasing their wedding party? Right. This year it’s natural disasters. That’ll fizzle out as well in a few months when people realize how creepy it is. One trend that won’t go out of style is the First Look. Let’s take a look at a few of the major reasons.

1. Fewer people means more emotion

Many couples, and guys in particular, are much more reserved when an entire venue full of people are watching what can be a very private, intimate moment. So that outburst of emotion and joy you hoped to see may stay hidden below the surface. But what if it could feel like you were the only two people around?

2. More creative control over a crucial moment

Ever been to a wedding where an uncle takes it upon himself to be the unofficial wedding videographer? Maybe he decides to get a nice close up and goes right into the middle of the aisle as the bride and groom see each other for the first time. He’s now made himself a part of that intimate moment. Ruined.

Our First Looks are completely unscripted and we cover them in a photojournalistic style. But we do have control of many factors that directly impact the quality of the resulting photos. We can put you in the best light against the best background. Fewer distractions mean the emotion of the moment is the absolute focus of the photo. That’s exactly what you want.

3. Your wedding day flows more seamlessly

A First Look is a great option for those that want to greet and socialize with their guests after the ceremony. We often like to combine the First Look with the bridal party and family portraits. That leaves the entire cocktail hour available to mingle with your guests, get a sneak peek of the reception area, etc. The sense of time pressure is significantly reduced for the entire day.
